The New Castle City Police are investigating four separate thefts of metal gutter plates that occurred on November 8th, 2011 around 9:00AM on Casimir Drive, and another theft of a manhole cover on Centerpoint Blvd. that occurred over the past weekend. Police were called around 9:00am by a resident who observed a man stealing her driveway gutter grate. When the resident asked the suspect what he was doing, he replied that he was “replacing” the grate, then fled in an older model light blue pick-up truck. Police searched the area and put out a general broadcast for the vehicle. Later that morning, three other Casimir Drive residents reported that their metal grates, valued at approximately $100.00 each, were also stolen that day.
